Durham Cricket Ground




The riverside ground is a cricket venue located in Chester-le-Street, County Durham sponsored by 
Emirate Riverside. It is the home ground of Durham county cricket club from 1995-present. it has hosted domestic and international matches as well. It has the capacity of 5000 spectators to have in a ground domestically while 19,000 internationals. Its end name is Lumely End while the other End called Finchale End. The ground has hosted 6 test matches, 16 ODI matches, and 3 T20 matches.
The ground first-class status was awarded in 1992 and the first official match played at Durham cricket ground when New Zealand toured England in 1992. after the first-class status, the ground development started and made into the international standard stadium. In 1999 world cup the ground was awarded two world cup matches. In the same year, England played the NatWest Series match here. In 2003 the first Test match played here between England and Zimbabwe and the first One Day International match played here in May 1999 between Pakistan and Scotland while it has hosted first T20 match in August 2008 between England and South Africa.


Other facilities at the ground continued being built over subsequent years, and the club's Don Robson Pavilion was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1996. The full ground capacity, including permanent and temporary seating, is 17,000.

In 2008 further development plans are announced of the ground including the permanent installation of floodlights and the extortions of the stand and increase the seating capacity up to 20,000. New entrance building was also planned. Club shop, club officials, offices and a new road and hotel also the part of development. In April 2015 permission was also granted to erect six permanent 55-meter floodlights and after a week lights are in action and the ground hosted a match between a Durham and Yorkshire in a T20 Blast.




It was announced in July 2009 that the ground would host the fourth Ashes Test match of the 2013 Ashes series, Hosting an Ashes Test match was predicted to generate £20 million for the local economy. As part of the conditions of a package of financial support announced in October 2016, the ECB imposed a number of sanctions on Durham County Cricket Club, including removal of the club's eligibility to bid to stage Test cricket at the Riverside Ground. The club will still be eligible to bid to host one-day and Twenty20 international matches, with a Twenty20 international against the West Indies scheduled to be held in 2017.
