Multan Cricket Stadium


Multan cricket stadium is situated at Vehari Road Multan. This stadium is owned and operated by Pakistan Cricket Board. It has a capacity of 35,000 people. It is a multi-purpose stadium but basically, it is used for cricket matches. This stadium has two ends Main Pavilion End and North Pavilion End.
A few years back Ibn-Qasim stadium was used for matches in Multan but later on in 2001 Multan stadium was open for matches in Multan. Recently there was a lot of renovation done by Pakistan Cricket Board. For Day/Night cricket matches floodlights were installed in the stadium. International cricket, Test cricket, and One Day International are hosted by this stadium. The first day/night match was played between India and Pakistan for the first in this stadium.

In August 2001 first Test match was played between Pakistan and Bangladesh at this ground. Later on 9 September 2003 first One Day International match was played between Bangladesh and Pakistan in the same ground. On 19 November 2006 last Test between Pakistan and West Indies was hosted by Multan Stadium. On 16 April 2008 last One Day International between Bangladesh and Pakistan were played in Multan stadium.

In a Match between Pakistan and Bangladesh Yasir Hameed scored 116 runs at the ground of this stadium. In 2004-04 season at Multan stadium ground highest Partnership was noted between Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag scored 336 runs. In Pakistan Super League in April 2018 Pakistan Cricket Board announced that this stadium would be used for future International matches and fixtures along with others in the country.
