Jason Holder


Jason Holder is a Barbadian Cricketer. Now a days he is captain of West Indies team. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler. According to the official ICC Test ranking, he is an all-rounder in the world. He is an outstanding player who performed at international and domestic levels. In January 2013 he started his ODI and in June 2014 he made his Test debut.


Domestic Career:

For Barbados, he started to play in 2009  and currently he is still playing with Barbados at the domestic level. In 2013 he was signed by the Chennai Super Kings by the IPL for $20,000.In 2013 Barbados Tridents signed him. For 2014-15 season Sunrisers bought him. Sunrisers Hyderabad has given him batting promotion. He got a chance to play with all-rounders Karn Sharma and Pervez Rasool. With them, he had scored 16 off 12 balls. In 2016 Quetta Gladiators bought him and he played for them. Again in 2016, he was again bought by Kolkata Knight Riders and in all those 4 matches he scored 22 runs at 5.50 and took 2 wickets at 51.50.In 2019 he was signed by Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for County Season.In 2015 he was selected as the captain of the Test series. For West Indies he was 15th youngest captain of all time for any nation and second youngest test captain of all the time.

International Career:

On February 1, 2013, he made his ODI debut against Australia. In July 2013  he played ODI against Pakistan in which he picked up 4 for 13, but Shahid Afridi underestimated his performance by a seven haul as West Indies were bowled out for 98. In the third ODI of the series, Holder performed incredibly along with Kemar Roach. He scored 19 not out off 9 deliveries. In January 2014 he made his T20I debut against New Zealand with figures of 2-34 in 3 overs.
In June 2014 due to his outstanding performances, he was selected for the Test Squad. On 26 June he made his Test debut against New Zealand.in that match, he bowled with four maidens in the first innings. With 16 runs he took his maiden Test wicket. He scored 90 runs and maiden Test Fifty But unfortunately, West Indies lost the match by 53 runs.

West Indies Cricket Board selected him as a captain in ODI format. He had the honor to become youngest ever captain of West Indies team. He helped his team to reach for the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup by his outstanding performance and West Indies lost to New Zealand. He scored two successive fifties against South Africa and India. He scored 104 runs against South Africa. In the quarter-final against New Zealand, he scored a 26-ball 42 in the last match of the series. He scored a maiden Test century against England in April 2015.

He took his maiden ODI five-wicket haul (5-27) on July 2,2017 against India. His team scored 189 runs to stay themselves in the series. He guided his bowlers very well and his team won the match by 11 scored 1000 runs and took 100 wickets in ODIs. For the 2018-19 season West Indies Cricket board granted him contract across all formats in October 2018. In that season he scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33, took 33 wickets at an average of 12.30 and it was his best average by any bowler in more than 100 years. He scored a double century in January 2019. At the Kensington against England, he made this century in the first-class cricket in his team’s second innings of the first Test. He had a wonderful partnership with Shane Dowrich of 295 runs  for the eight wickets and gave a lead of 627 runs over England. In the Test series, he made 202 not out and it was the third-highest score of any eight number batsman in Tests. His team won the match by 381 runs and it was the greatest victory of the team at home. He was awarded as  Man of the match for that match. He is in the all-rounders ranking since Garfield Sobers in 1974.For 2019 Cricket World Cup he was selected as a part of the squad in April 2019.
