OLD Trafford Cricket Ground
Old Trafford ground cricket is known as Emirates Old Trafford located in Manchester city, England. It is the home ground of Manchester cricket club 1857-1865 and Lancashire County Club since 1864-present. It has the capacity to have 19,000 spectators at a time in domestic cricket and in international cricket 50,000 spectators can watch the match at a time while 50,000 people can attend in concerts. Trafford ends names are James Anderson end and Brain Statham end. This is England’s second oldest cricket ground to host a test match and the first Ashes match also played here. It also hosted the two world cup semi-finals.
The first test match played here from 10-12 July between England and Australia while the first ODI played here between England and Australia as well in August 1972 and it hosted the first T20 in June 2008. The highest post in old Trafford in test format is 656/8 Dec posted by Australia against England and the leading runs scorers at the ground is Denis Compton with 818 runs while the bowling led by Alec Bedser by 51 wickets. In the ODIs the highest score made by Sri Lanka 318/7 while the leading run score here is Graham Gooch he made 405 runs and the leading wicket taker is RGD Willis he took 15 wickets.
The redevelopment of the ground started in 2008. In 2009 Stretford end of the ground was closed and opened in June 2010 after the overshadowing new seating to the west of the pavilion. During the 2010/11 winter, the wickets were turned from their previous east-west axis to a more typical north-south alignment, which prevents the low evening sun from interfering with matches, and increased the number of available wickets by five, to sixteen. Many of Lancashire's home games for the 2011 season were transferred to outgrounds while the new wickets 'bedded in'.
A new video screen placed in the ground and permanent floodlights were installed in the ground. A new player and Media facility mimicking to some degree the design of the point has been built on the site of the demolished wash Brook-Statham stand. The pavilion has been renovated its roof replaced with two glass stories. The media facilities and corporate boxes on the western side of the ground have been demolished, leaving an empty space, which will be used for temporary seating or a stage when required.
Old Trafford Media and Players Centre has two media stands at the opposite end of the ground to the new media center. Television and commentators were operated in Stretford End.
The Old Trafford Lodge has demolished as part of the redevelopment face of the ground.
