Rose Bowl Cricket Ground
The rose bowl cricket ground and a residential hotel complex sponsored by The Ageas Bowl located in the west end, Hampshire, England. It is the home ground of Hampshire country cricket club since 2001. It’s one end is Pavilion end and the other one is Northern end Owned by RB Sport and Leisure Holdings PLC. This ground was constructed as a replacement of Hampshire’s previous home ground country Ground located in Southampton, since 1885. The ground hosted the international cricket matches and Domestic matches as well. The first first-class match was played at this ground from 9-11may 2011 won by Hampshire against Worcestershire by 124 runs. The first ODI played here on 10 July 2003 between South Africa and Zimbabwe and the First T20 played here in 2005 between Australia and England The ground has hosted two matches of 2004 champions trophy matches. In order to make the ground test venue its redevelopment started in 2008.
The new stands built to make the more capacity for the peoples who come to watch the matches increased up to 15,000. A four-star hotel made with 175 rooms at the ground. Two cricket gates were made to access the ground. This redevelopment of the ground cost 45 million.
In 2011 redevelopment earned its award ECB has awarded the Rose Bowl test status and the first test played here between Sri Lanka in 2011. The redevelopment faced some problems like the construction of the new stands, a construction worker was crushed to death in February 2009, while prior to the Test match the new access road still had not been constructed. Meanwhile, legal action by local hoteliers led to the construction of the hotel at the Northern End being put on hold, with the hoteliers objecting to the possible impact on competition and to the use of public funds from Eastleigh Borough Council.
The Rod Bransgrove Pavilion holds the player's facilities and facilities for club members. The Hambledon club is also there which has six lanes of cricket nets. the two new stands include permanent catering facilities along the internal concourse of the ground floor. The stands are named after two of Hampshire's most popular captains, Colin Ingleby-MacKenzie and Shane Warne.
