Usman Tariq Khawaja

Usman Tariq Khawaja is a Pakistani born international cricketer who plays for Australia cricket team in all three forms for cricket. He is a left-handed batsman usually plays in top order and he can bowl Right-arm off break. He also appears in different leagues all around the world. He was named as Australian U-19 player of the Championship award in 2006 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup.


Domestic Career:

Khawaja first appearance in domestic cricket was in a first-class match for New South Wales Blues in 2008. He also played for New South Wales Blues second XI where he scored 2 back to back Double centuries. He played for NSWB till 2011 and in 2012 season he moved to Queensland to play first class and List A cricket and in 2015 he was appointed as captain of Queensland cricket team. In 2011 Big Bash League he was picked up by Sydney Thunder in their squad.


He also played in English county cricket for Derbyshire in 2011 domestic season as an overseas player in County Championship. He just 4 matches for them where he scored a century against Kent as well and batting at an average of 39.87. in 2014 county season he signed a contract as an overseas player with Lancashire for all three formats of the game for only 2 seasons. He also appeared in IPL in 2016 and 2017 edition for Rising Pune Supergiant. In 2018 he once again played in English County Cricket for Glamorgan County Cricket to play 2018 Vitality Blast tournament.    

International Career:

Khawaja made his international debut in test format against England in 2011 Ashes series and became the first Muslim and Pakistani born Australian cricketer to play a test match for Australia. He was suspended in India for breaching discipline and he made a come back for 2 years in the 2013 Ashes series. He scored his maiden test hundred against New Zealand scored 174 runs. after his comeback to cricket, he scored 4 centuries in just six matches. He was the first player to score a hundred in a Day-Night test match at home ground. In 2018 he played a match-saving inning against Pakistan at its home ground. he played 41 test matches so far scored 2,765 runs at an average of 42.53 with the help of 8 hundred and 14 fifties.

In ODIs, he made his debut against Sri Lanka un 2013 but he was dropped after just three games. He had a fantastic series with the bat in India led to winning the series with his batting. He also scored his first century against India against India. He scored 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries including 91 runs and manages to got 383 runs in the series as well and he also got his career-best 25th place in the ICC rankings he jumped up from 83 places. He has played 31 ODIs so far and scored 1,238 runs at an average of 44.21.
In T20I Khawaja made his debut against India in 2016. He has just played 9 T20Is scoring 241 runs at an average of 26.78 with 1 fifty with his name as well.
