Darren Bravo


Darren Bravo is a West Indies cricketer.He is a left-handed batsman and right arm medium bowler. He is the younger brother of Dwayne Bravo and is the first cousin of former famous cricketer Brain Lara.His batting style is like Brain Lara. He played at ODI and Test cricket level.

Domestic Career:

Bravo had started his domestic career in 2007. He made his first debut by playing for Trinidad and Tobago. Against Guyana, he scored seven runs in a one-day match. He scored eight runs against The Leeward Islands and made his first-class debut three days. He played against the Windward Islands and scored a single figure. After then he didn’t participate in any match in the 2006-07 season. In five matches he scored 419 runs at an average of 59.85 in the under-19 team for the TCL Under-19 Challenge and became top most run scorer of the tournament

For the 2008 Under-19 World Cup he played in two matches and he was one of six players who were out of the match without scoring. He scored 165 runs at 55 in all five matches of West Indies in Under-19 World Cup. He took three wickets for nine runs in the final match against Nepal .In two-first class matches he had finished his 2007-08 season. He became part of the squad for the Stanford Series in October 2008. He improved his performance in coming matches of the season than previous matches. For Trinidad and Tobago, he scored 41 in the semi-final against Jamaica in the WICB Cup.
He scored 97 runs against Barbados in his first-class cricket. In that match, his team played for 330 minutes and he was the last player who was out after 330 minutes. He scored 97 against Barbados in first-class cricket. In January against the Windward Islands, he scores 105 included 13 fours and a six in a maiden first-class century. He scored a second century of the season against Barbados.With his partnership with Kieron Pollard. He ended the season with 605 runs at 43.21.

International Career:

Bravo was selected as part of the squad in June 2009 for ODI series against India. In his first International debut, he scored 19 from 16 balls at Sabina Park. Against Sri Lanka, he scored 58 from 159 balls in his test debut. In his second test, he hit 80 and 68 in the third test with an average of 68.66. He was the only West Indies player who scored over 100 runs in the two-Test series. He played against Bangladesh in October scoring of 2 and 24 not out in the draw first test. He made his maiden Test century in the second Test and helped his team to a 1-0 series victory. In the subcontinent, he was the ninth highest scorer with 195 from 297 balls. For 2012 Indian Premier League he was purchased by the Deccan Chargers for $100,000  but he didn’t play in the competition because of his Australia’s Tour. After playing in the five-match ODI series he scored 48 runs. He was dropped for the T20Is. He was the second Highest Run-Scorer of his team with 184 runs in three Tests.

In the ODI history, he is famous for setting a record of highest third wicket (258)partnership with Denesh Ramdin.In 2013-14 Test series against New Zealand in Dunedin he made maiden double-century. In 2015-16 Australia tour he scored 108 off 177 balls in the first innings but unfortunately, he lost the match by an innings. He was the first ever left-handed batsman who scored a test hundred in an innings of a Day-night test match. For the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he was selected as part of an International squad in April 2019.
