Pakistan Cricket Team World Cup History
Pakistan cricket team have played all the edition of the ICC world cup from 1975 to till now. Green shirts have won the mega event in 1992 under the captaincy of legendary player Imran Khan. They have also played the final of the world cup 1999 where they lost to Australia. Pakistan has also played the semi-final four times in 1979,1983,1987,2011 world cups. Pakistan has also reached the quarter-final 2 times in 1996 and 2015 world cups.

Pakistan has played the first ever world cup in 1975. Pakistan team have been captained by Asif Iqbal. They were eliminated from the group stage. Green shirts met Australia, West Indies, and Sri Lanka in the group stage matches. have won only 1 game out of their three games against Sri Lanka.

In the world cup, 1979 Pakistan have played under the captaincy of Asif Iqbal. Pakistan did well in group stage matches. They have won 2 matches against Canada and Australia and they lost to England in the group stage match. Green shirts have qualified for the semi-final where they face West Indies.in the semi-final, West Indies batted first and they put 293 in 60 overs on the board. In reply, Pakistan was bowled out on 250 in 57th over and they were knocked out from the world cup.

In world cup 1983 Pakistan have reached semis for the second consecutive time. This time captained by Imran Khan. Shaheens have won 3 games out of 7 in the group stage one against New Zealand and twice against Sri Lanka. They qualified for semi-final where they met West Indies in the semi-final for the second consecutive time. Pakistan has lost the match and was eliminated from the world cup. This was the second time Pakistan lost the world cup semi-final match against West Indies.

Pakistan has played the world cup 2003 under the captaincy of Waqar Younis. They were eliminated from the world cup from group stages. This was the second time that Pakistan knocked out from world cup at the group stages.

In world cup 2003 was one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history when Pakistan was knocked out of the competition in a shock defeat to Ireland, who were playing in their first competition for the second consecutive time Pakistan was knocked out from the first stage. This time team was captained by Inzamam-Ul-Haq they won only 1 game out of 3 they lost the match against West Indies and Ireland.

Pakistan started poorly in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Their first match was against cricket rivals India. Pakistan lost the match by 76 runs. The second match against West Indies was a disaster. West Indies posted 310/6 on the board. In response, Pakistan lost 4 wickets for 1 run on the board, a first in an ODI match. Pakistan then won their next four games against Zimbabwe, UAE, South Africa, and Ireland. Sarfraz Ahmed scored Pakistan's only century against Ireland and was awarded Man of the Match against both South Africa and Ireland. The victory was Pakistan's first against South Africa in a World Cup match. Pakistan finished third in group B and qualified for the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal match of Pakistan was against Australia. Pakistan scored 213 runs. Australia started steadily but wickets regularly fell during the middle overs. The match gained a lot of attraction due to the on-field rivalry between Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson and Pakistani pacer, Wahab Riaz. Wahab's spell was praised despite not picking up many wickets. The partnership between Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell allowed Australia to win the match. As a result, Pakistan was knocked out of the tournament. The match was the final ODI for Pakistani's captain Misbah-ul-Haq and experienced all-rounder Shahid Afridi
