Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium,Delhi
The Feroz Shah Kotla Ground is situated in
New Dehli. It is a cricket ground located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. It was
established in 1883. This stadium is owned and operated by Dehli District Cricket Association. The stadium has two ends called Stadium end and Pavilion end. After Eden Gardens It
is the second oldest International cricket stadium in India and this. The stadium
is still functional. The stadium had hosted 32 Test matches,20 One Day International
matches, and 2 T20I. The stadium grounds noted many remarkable victories. in this ground, Sunil Gavaskar hit his 29th
test ton to equal Don Bradman’s and records tally of 29 centuries.Against
Pakistan Anil Kumble took 10 wickets in an innings in the ground and Sachin Tendulkar’s
35th test ton to defeat Gavaskar. Sachin became the batsman with the
most International Test centuries after this victory. At this ground as of 2016
the Indian National Cricket team has been defeated for over 28 years in Test
matches and for over 10 years in One Day International matches.
In November
1984the first Test match played at this ground was between India and West
Indies and the Last Test match was played between India and Sri Lanka in
December 2017 at this ground. The first One Day International match was played
in September 1982 between India and Sri Lanka and the last One Day
International was played between India and Australia on March 13,2019 at this
ground. In March 2016 the first T20I was played between Afghanistan and England
at this ground and on November 1,2017
the last T20I match was played here between India and New Zealand.On 27
December 2009 the ground was banned by ICC for 12 months because the pitch
condition was unfit to host a match and for 2011 Cricket World Cup the ground was
returned as one of the venues after 12 months ban. This ground is also the home
ground for Dehli Capitals of the Indian Premier League.
There are 18 test
matches was played by the Indian cricket team at the home ground and the Indian
cricket team won 10 test matches at their home
ground. The most successful visiting team remarkably noted by the ground of the
stadium in England. Former Indian Cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar scored 671 runs at
this ground and the most successful bowler of this ground is Anil Kumble who
took 58 wickets. In 1959 the West
Indies team scored 644-8 and 631 all out in 1948 which is the highest test
score on this ground. In 2008 Indian team scored highest score 613-7 after West
Indies. At this ground two times, a team has scored 300 plus runs in an innings
in One Day international.

Richards of West Indies took 6 wickets against India at this ground.In
1987,1996 and 2011 the Cricket World Cups are hosted by India at this ground.On
Ist November 2017 the ground hosted a T20I match between India and New Zealand
which was the first ever Indian International twenty-20 at this ground and the
last International match for Ashish Nehra of India. After this match, the north
stand of the stadium was named the Ashish Nehra Stand.
