Faf Du Plessis Cricket
Faf Du Plessis represents South African international cricket team in all forms of cricket and he is the current captain of South Africa. he is a right handed batsman and a part time leg break bowler. He is one of world class batsman in the world. He is one of those players who play different leagues all around the world. In Aunual dinner of South Africa cricket, he was named one of five players who won player of the year award in 2011. He was also fined two time due to ball tampering in a test match. first he was caught by the camera in a match against Pakistan where he was rubbing the ball with his Zip on his trousers he was fined 50 % of the match fee. Second time against Australia in a test match he was caught when he is rubbing the ball with “bubble gum” in order to shine one side of the ball.he was fine 100 % of match fee.
Domestic Career:
Du Plessis started his domestic career for Northern in 2004 season and represented them till 2011 and he joined Titans as his home team in domestic cricket. He also played for Lancashire county cricket club from 2008 to 2009. In 2010 he was picked up by Chennai Super Kings in IPL he played for them from 2011 to 2015 and after the termination of Chennai he joined the new team of IPL Rising Pune Supergiants and in 2018 he came back to Chennai Super Kings. He also played in Big Bash League for Melbourne Renegades in 2012 season. In South Africa’s Mzansi Super League T20 tournament he was picked up by Paarl Rocks in their squad in 2018. He is batting at an average of 46.56 in ODIs.
International Career:
Du Plessis first appearance in international cricket was in ODI against India where he played an inning of 60 runs and remained unbeaten in 2011. In 2011 ICC World Cup he was picked by the selectors in the squad.in a tri-series against Zimbabwe and Australia in 2014 he scored his maiden century followed by 2 consecutive centuries and he was about to make his by became the batsman to score 4 consecutive centuries he was dismissed on 96 runs. Du Plessis was named a man of the match series award. In 2016 he was named as captain in ODIs and in 2017 he played a massive inning of 185 runs and remained not out against Sri Lanka.
In test cricket, he made his debut against Australia in 2012. He scored 188 runs in the match and won match of the match award for this tremendous performance. In the third match of the series he played match-saving knock in both innings, he made 78 and 110 runs in a first and second inning of the match respectively which enable South Africa to draw the match. In 2013 once again he played the match-saving knock where he scored 134 runs. he is the first captain to score a hundred in a day/night test match as well. currently he is batting at an average of 42.95 in the test format.
In T20 format Du Plessis made his debut against England. he also scored a century in this format of the game. he hit a ton against West Indies made 119 runs in just 46 balls. In 2012 he was announced as captain of the South African T20 side. He also led World XI in Independence Cup against Pakistan. He is batting at an average of 35.86 scoring 1,363 runs.
