Mark Wood


Mark Wood is an English Cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast bowler. His plays role of bowler in matches. In Test matches, he had made 1 century. He took 36 wickets in test series,41 wickets in ODI series,162 in FC and 87 in LA.His first Five-wicket Test  Haul helped England to defeat West Indies in 2019. He is selected for 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Domestic Career:

He made his Durham debut in 2011 against Durham MCCU.In  the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 he made his List A debut against Northamptonshire. Again in the Clydesdale Bank 40 he made more performances of first-class cricket against Sri-Lanka and List A performance against Scotland. In 2014 he made his debut for  England Lions in Sri-Lanka. Chennai Super Kings bought him for INR 1.5 crores for the 2018 IPL season on 28  January 2018.

International Career:

On 8 May 2015 Wood made his ODI debut for England against Ireland and due to rain Mark remained unable to take part in that match. Against New Zealand, he made his Test Debut in May and took figures of 3-93 in  New Zealand’s first innings. He became helpful for England to win the match by 124 runs in second innings of New Zealand. He took three wickets in the New Zealand’s second innings but unfortunately England lost this match by 199 runs and series was drawn at 1-1. In the second.

The test he took only one wicket. England lost the match by 405 runs. Due to his injury, he remained unable to took part in the third Test series but he took part in fourth test series by 1-13. However, England lost the final test of the series but he took 1-59 so England won the series of Ashes by 3-2. In 2015 he played the first Test against Pakistan took one wicket and the match became drawn. In 2019 Wood took part in the match against West Indies as replacement of Olly Stone but he didn’t take part in first two matches. He took part in the third Test of the series and took 5 wickets for 41 runs off 802 overs. Due to his marvelous performance, he took first five-wicket Test haul which helped England to defeat West Indies on the second day of the final test.




On 23 June 2015, he made his Twenty20 International debut and England won by 65 runs with his figures of 3-26.In Ashes Test series he helped England to win the match by 169 runs.  Due to his ankle injury, he remained out of series against Sri Lanka.In 2016 after his recovery he played ODI against Pakistan. England won the match by 44 runs on the D/L Method as he took 1-57 figures. England won next match against Pakistan by four wickets as he took 3/46. England won next series by 169 runs as he took figures of 1-75.
