David Willey

David Willey is an English Cricketer plays for England National Cricket Team in limited overs format  He is a Left-handed batsman and a Left-arm medium fast bowler. He is the son of an International Empire Peter Willey. In 2019 Willey is selected for 2019 Cricket World Cup as well. 

Domestic Career:

As Northamptonshire is Willey’s home town so he started his domestic career in the Country Championship division two.In 2009 season of Northants Academy he got a chance to play against Leicestershire where he scored 60 on debut. During his first season of domestic cricket, he showed an outstanding performance so he was rewarded with a two-year professional contract on 8 May. In Friends Life Twenty20 Final against Surrey, he showed superb performance and helped his country to win the match. Had figures of 4/9 and had match ending hat-trick to clean up the tail.

At the start of 2016 season, he joined Yorkshire on a three-year contract on August 19, 2015.In Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on May 1,2016 he made his debut. For 2016-16 BBL season Willey was signed by Perth Scorchers. He had a successful season there. In his first match, he took 2 wickets against Adelaide Strikers. In the second match against Sydney Sixers, he scored one run. He bowled very well and took wickets with the ball in his third match against Melbourne.For the 2018 IPL season of Chennai Super Kings Willey was signed to replace Kedar Jadhav. Chennai Super Kings again signed David Willey for the 2019 IPL season.

International Career:

For U19 cricket squad, he was selected for the Test series against Bangladesh. On 8 May 2015, he made his One Day International debut for England against Ireland. On June 14,2015 he played a match against New Zealand in an ODI match. In this third match of ODI, he took a wicket with his second ball and had figures of 3-69. In the fourth match, he took figures of 2-89 and his team won the match. In the final match of ODI, he took 2-50 and England won the series. On June 23,2015 he made his Twenty20 International debut and took figures of 3-22, scored 6 runs. He also played T20 against Australia and played well against Pakistan, he played for the  ODI series.


He played against South Africa and took 1-30 in the first match and England won by 39 runs. England lost the series 3-2. In England’s 2016 World T20campaign he took 1-33 against West Indies and 1-40 against South Africa. Willey took 2-56 in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.Willey played ODI against Pakistan and Bangladesh and England won both series.
