Tom Curran


Tom Curran is a South African born English Cricketer.He is Right-handed batsman and Right-arm fast-medium. Bowler. In 2015 he won the award of  Young Cricketer of the Year from Cricket Writers’ Club. In English Domestic Cricket, he played matches for Surrey. He also played for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League in 2018-19.


Domestic Career:

At under15 and the under-17 level, he represented KwaZulu-Natal Inland. In 2012 he got a chance to play for the Surrey Second XI and in September he was transferred to Wellington College.In August 2013 he made his senior debut for Surrey in a List A match against Essex.In April 2014 he made his First Class debut against Cambridge University. For the first season of the T20 Global League, he was selected for the squad of Cape Town Knight Riders in August 2017. For the 2018 Indian Premier League, he was selected as the replacement for Mitchell Starc by Kolkata Knight Riders. He took 6 wickets and 5 matches in Indian Premier League.

International Career:

In September 2015 he was selected for the England Performance Programme Squad. In October 2015 he had completed his residential qualification for England. In February 2017 he got a chance for the ODI of English Squad. He was selected in English’s Twenty20 International squad for the series against South Africa in June 2017. On 23 June 2017, he got 3 wickets for 33 runs in his T20I for England against South Africa at Taunton.He took one wicket in first over in that match. 
For England’s One Day International against West Indies, he was selected to play in September 2017 and on September 2017 he made his ODI debut for England against West Indies.

For the Ashes Series In Australia, he was included in England’s Test Squad instead of Steven Finn in November 2017. He was very happy in his Test debut when he had a misunderstanding that David Warner caught at mid-on for 99 but TV replays cleared that Curran had over-stepped and a no-ball was called. Curran finished the day wicketless and Warner returned to complete his century. After Ben Stokes and Mark Wood, he was the third England bowler after four years who missed out on a maiden Test Wicket because of no ball. For the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he was selected for England’s Squad in April 2019.
