Bangladesh Cricket Team World Cup History


Bangladesh first appearance in international cricket in 1979 in ICC trophy they won 2 games of 4 games. These two win not enough to qualify for the second edition of the world cup in 1979. In 1983, 1987, 1992, and 1996 they played ICC trophy and were not able to qualify for the mega events. Bangladesh has played 32 matches in the world cup they only won 11 and lost 20 matches with 1 match tie.

In 1997 they won ICC Trophy and finally, they were able to qualify for the World cup 1999. In the world cup, they played 5 group games and they won only two games and were knocked out from the tournament.

In 2003 world cup Bangladesh had the worst tournament as they did not manage to win a single game in the tournament.

In 2007 world cup Bangladesh first time in the history progressed to the second round of the tournament as they defeated India to qualify for the next round but, from the super stage they were knocked out from the tournament.

Bangladesh lost the tournament opener against India, before the win against Ireland. The next match was won by West Indies after dismissing Bangladesh for 58 runs, the team's lowest score in ODIs and a record low for a Full Member at the World Cup. Bangladesh later defeated England, and the Netherlands, making their final match of the group stage a must-win contest. Against South Africa, Bangladesh succumbed to their second-largest defeat in ODIs and became the first Full Member team to be bowled out for under 100 twice in World Cups, thereby failing to progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.

 In 2015 world cup Bangladesh best performance came they qualified for the quarter-final they defeated Afghanistan, Scotland, and England in group stages. In the quarterfinal match, they had a comprehensive defeat against India by 109 runs. With this defeat, their journey comes to end in the world cup.
