Lahore Qalandar PSL Cricket
Lahore Qalandars (LQ)is a Pakistan super league franchise which competes with the other team of PSL. LQ represents Lahore which is the capital of Punjab Provence Gaddafi stadium Lahore is their home. LQ is the Second most expensive team of the PSL owned by Qatar Lubricants company limited (QALCO). Fawad Rana is the owner of the franchise. Umer Akmal is the leading run scorer and Sunil Narine is the Wicket Taker of LQ. Muhammad Hafeez is the current captain of the team and Fakher Zaman is the Vice-Captain.
In 2016 Qalandars have started players Development Program by organizing “Jazz Rising Stars” in eight cities of Pakistan to identify youth talent and top performers get the chance to play in Australia.
Till now Players Development Program produced many players like Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and in the current season they have produced Haris Rauf
In the first edition of the PSL Qalandars have some very big names like Chris Gayle, Umar Akmal, Yasir Shah, and Dwayne Bravo in their dugout. Bangladeshi young star bowler Mustafizur Rahman injured before the tournament. Qalandars finished at last position they manage to win only two games out of eight in the group stage matches. Qalandar’s Umar Akmal was the top scorer of the tournament and he had won the Best Batsman Award.
In the second season of the PSL, LQ Signed Brendon McCullum and appointed him as captain of the team. LQ signed Sunil Narine, Jason Roy, Chris Green, Grant Elliott, and James Franklin. As the tournament progresses LQ couldn’t perform well in the tournament and again in the second edition,
they were knocked out of the tournament for the second consecutive year.
In the third season of the PSL Qalandars disappointed their fans and they suffered again in the tournament and they were knocked out of the tournament for third consecutive.
In the four editions of PSL Qalandars Signed Muhammad Hafeez as captain the team and they have signed some big-name players like AB De Villiers, Corey Anderson, Brendan Talyor, Carlos Brathwaite windies hero of the T20 world cup and Hardus Viljoen from South Africa and from Pakistan Hasan Khan, Mohammad Imran, Rahat Ali, Saad Ali and they picked Haris Rauf to form youth talent program.
